In 2017 Onside Soccer worked across three locations in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, holding football sessions for refugees fleeing the on-going war in Syria.  In partnership with UNICEF and STEP UK, Onside supplied equipment to get all three projects started and also employed a part time coach, Daniel Cabrera, who looked after all three projects.

Only ever designed as a short term project, it was very effective in helping young people adjust to their new surroundings and also helped to bring a sense of normality and stability to their lives.
