Miss Harrison, Primary 7 Teacher, Black Mountain P.S.

"The Project Playmaker 6-week football and life-skills programme was very beneficial for the P7 class who took part in June 2024.

There were a number of positives - a deeper level of communication between the children, constructing team strategies to use in games, conflict management, healthy competition, developing cooperation and collaborative skills, improving more advanced motor skills such as speed, agility, balance and strength, improving general fitness and developing confidence & self esteem.

Thank you so much!"

WHY THIS MATTERS

Many young people in Belfast continue to grow up facing poverty, trauma, educational barriers and limited opportunities.

Project Playmaker exists to provide trusted relationships, positive role models and environments where young people can develop confidence, resilience and hope for the future.

CHILD POVERTY IN BELFAST

  • 1 in 4 children live in poverty

  • 32–33% child poverty in West Belfast

  • 29% child poverty in North Belfast

YOUNG PEOPLE FACE

  •  Lower educational attainment

  •  Poorer mental health

  •  Reduced opportunities

  •  Greater social isolation

CAN YOU HELP?

Project Playmaker gives businesses a practical way to invest in Belfast’s young people.

Your support helps provide trusted mentors, safe football sessions, school-based programmes and opportunities that build confidence, belonging and hope.

This is more than sponsorship. It is a commitment to the future of young people growing up in communities where support, encouragement and positive role models can make a lasting difference.
