Although Onside Ministries was set up to work mainly overseas, in recent years we have been developing the U.K. side of our work in both football and basketball. In 2013 we ran both basketball and dodgeball tournaments in the south of England and also joined up with the team from Camp XL to run a football camp in beautiful Devon. Keep checking back or 'Like' us on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest news.
Coaching in Northern Ireland
We have established strong links with many organisations across the UK and in 2012 we linked up with Coaching4Christ, a Northern Irish sports ministry, to work with them in Kilkeel, County Down.
in 2013 we linked up with the Camp XL and ran a football coaching clinic as part of their annual summer camp in Devon.
Weekend trip to Barcelona
One of the things we love is watching live sport. We run occasional weekend trips to see football matches in different European cities, giving people a few days in a new city, seeing some sights and, of course, going to live games.
Football and basketball may be our main focus but we're always keen to try new sports and have been running Dodgeball tournaments as a way of introducing new people to our work and also having some fun!
Jamie in action
Not only does Jamie play and coach basketball, he also knows his way around a dodgeball court.
Very probably our fittest supporter, Mark from Ballymena has, quite literally, gone the extra mile to help our projects, running the Belfast Marathon to raise some funds for our work.
Whether it be guiding people through the streets of Barcelona, coaching football in India, collecting football kits in Birmingham or refereeing Dodgeball matches in sunny Worthing, there are very few jobs Tim won't tackle.
We are always looking out for volunteers to help with fundraising and we try to organise a few events through the year, from quiz nights through to sponsored silences. We also hold sponsored walks around the Premiership grounds of London, although Rob looks like he's ready for a game as well!
