Onside Soccer was originally set up as a Christian sports ministry which assists local churches and sports organisations to use football as part of their outreach programme.

We believe that when Jesus said to 'Love your neighbour as yourself' it applied equally to the world of football as much as anywhere else.  Although all of our work is based on a Christian ethos our projects are open to anyone to attend and we strive to be as inclusive and open as possible.  It is our view that not everyone may want to come along to a church but that we, as an organisation, can bring the church to them, whether that be a football pitch, five-a-side court or a flat patch of dirt for a kick-about. It is our ambition to demonstrate the teachings of Jesus, not by forcing our beliefs on anyone but by being a visible force for good in our communities.

We currently work alongside local churches in the U.K., Uganda, India, Gambia and Albania.  Apart from regular football training sessions we have, amongst other things, been involved in working in refugee camps in Iraq to help those fleeing war in Syria, we have taken part in cross community projects in Northern Ireland and we have set up and ran inter-religious football projects in northern Nigeria to try to ease tensions between Muslims and Christians through sport.

If you are interested in this aspect of our work, have questions about it or are part of a church or sports organisation who would like to work with us, please feel free to get in touch via the contact page.
